Better Than Chocolate edition by Pat Amsden Literature Fiction eBooks
In Better than Chocolate Pat Amsden tells the tale of two independent people falling passionately in love. Set in Chemainus, a small picturesque seaside town on Vancouver Island, the reader is drawn into the charm and warmth of the community and the hearts and lives of the people who live there. The story begins when Elena's over-protective father sends her an unusual birthday present: a handsome business man called Brad. He's assigned to help her start up the art gallery of her dreams. She's reluctant to take his help at first, but he proves to be an excellent consultant and. ..so much more.
Torn between her feelings for Brad and her determination to start a business and run it on her own terms, Elena feels she has to make a choice between the two. But does she?
Amsden deftly pulls the reader along. She keeps you wondering how they're going to make their relationship work ...right to the last page. And you find yourself cheering them on.
"...his voice sending shivers down her spine... Right now it was a delicious torment thinking about what would happen when Elena's [the art gallery] was open."
I like Amsden's characters. They're the kind of people you'd like to have for neighbours, fully human and friendly. Her prose is so smooth the story inhales you, and the pace is just right, like a warm bubble bath.
I would recommend this book to readers who like sweet romance and in particular those that like love in a small town setting.

Better Than Chocolate edition by Pat Amsden Literature Fiction eBooks Reviews
Elena is bound a determined to set her business up without interference from her loaded family but things become hard when she has to deal with her Daddy's "gift".
Brad has been called to be Elena's gift from her dad but she doesn't seem to appreciate having him as a business developer. He can tell the spoiled beauty has never been without. Appearances can be deceiving and the longer he works with Elena the more he realizes things are not always what they seem.
Can they both work together to set up her dream business and also give themselves time to get to know each other? Read on and find out.
**I gave the review a 4 star rating because the heroine story line does not appear complete developed. The book starts out portraying the heroine's angst again her family but at the end how things are shown to be amongst her and her family leaves you wondering where did the angst came from? The reader is left to think the heroine is capricious or mental. I still loved the story overall just wish that plot part was better developed.
Even though they don't know it and have plenty of challenges to overcome, Brad and Elena are the perfect couple. The banter between them is fast, fierce and wickedly fun. Loved Brad, a modern day genie who, at her father's request, arrives to assist Elena and help make her dream of building a business a reality. Small town Chemainus was a wonderful setting for this fun reading getaway.
I enjoyed this book. But...the typos were horrible. If I were Pat Amsden I would be looking for a new proofreader
i couldn't make myself read more than a few pages, and that's rare for me. amateur and under-edited. just say no.
Brad removed his shirt & pans - haven't had that visual since I lived with a chef! LOL Otherwise the story was predictable but really sweet
Cute plot. The heroine is rather childish but that's ok. Real issue I don't think any one has proofread the edition. There's problems with punctuation and sentence fragments. But occasionally the wrong word is used, and it is bad enough that you have to re-read several times to get the meaning. For example, BEE replaces BEEN and the hot love scene is spoiled by mis-spelling PANTS. I almost didn't finish the book.
